I have just finished reading an excellent book on Eastern Orthodoxy and Evangelicalism.Titled "Three Views on Eastern Orthodoxy and Evangelicalism", it is published by Zondervan and goes for $14.99 (and well worth the price). I saw it in the new book section of the library at Tennessee Temple University ,and had to borrow it on my friends of the library card. The book contains a conversation between the following men: Bradley Nassif, who is Antiochian Orthodox and a lecturer on Eastern Orthodoxy in a number of adjunct positions (he makes a case for compatibility between the two, he came to Christ through the work of Evangelicals on the campus of the university he had attended, and he is my favorite here)Michael Horton, an Evangelical who teaches at Westminster Seminary and is a clergyman in the Reformed tradition, Vladimir Berzonsky who is an Orthodox Priest, George Hancock-Stefan, who was originally Romanian Orthodox and is now a Baptist and a pastor in that tradition, Edward Rommen who converted from Evangelicalism and is now an Orthodox Priest. All of these men have outstanding acadenic credentials the conversation is excellent, with such views as their being compatibility, a comditional compatibility, and no compatibility. I suggest that people read this book and get a better understanding of the issues before posting any more on this matter. it would be nice to read intelligent posts, rather that what seems all too often a cross between the ululations of Kenny from South Park, and the screeches of Cheetah, when the poor chimp is having a bad day. oh, the "U" word as applies to Eastern Catholics is mentioned, with the seemingly obligatory sense that we are the Peck's bad boys in the issue of Rome/Constantinople reconciliation. it is also noteworthy that both sides in the comversation use Latin Catholicism as a bridge of reference. but read and learn.
Much Love,
Jonn

While Orthoodox and evangelicals live around each other, are friends and even share political views, we have totally different religious traditions. Given how small we are and, let's face it, how pushy evanglicals can be about how their tradition is the only way to worship, its important to respect evangelicals be to keep a little distance between them as far as religious services. Our form of worship is a beautiful and unique way of worshiping God and it should remain that way.

The is much to note here, ONE (1) that ther are an innumerable amount of Evang/Prot/Fundamentalist groups and VERY FEW of them are in communion (for lack of a better word...) with each other. For one they don't really have communion IE>>>the Body and Blood of the Lord, they have a 'remembrance' service...it is JUST crackers/bread and grape juice, and they are offended that any (Catholics/Byzantine/Orthodox/Monophysite) DARE ...(their words)...imbibe of the Sacred Body and Blood of the Savior...! I KNOW this for I came to Orthodoxy...virtually kicking and screaming...but I came nevertheless...to the Ancient One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Faith...VIA...Evangelical "Christianity"...! Those who are 'traditional' Christians should (esp if you are' cradle') be very aware of the of what they say, and BE SURE you know WHY you believe what you do..!!! I talked to a cousin oday and he said he knew about some very anti-catholic literature in some evangelical churches...of which I had to admit that I was there, and done that. Many...(such as I) who are convert are much more widely read and studied, and know ...verbatum...WHY we came to the Traditional Faith of the Church. If this offends please forgive me, and IF you have any comments...OFF FORUM...so as NOT to offend others, you are welcome to email me privately. thanks, S Bohom , mikhailo
