Let's hope that this zeal rubs off on Eastern Catholics which seem to have very little interest in missions.

Grace flowing from the Eucharist, "the source and summit of the Christian life." (Vatican II) is a good reminder from the Cardinal. The Eastern churches have a handle on the Eucharist.

I would add to that monasticism (the NT church lived the gospel in this way) and service to the poor as living the Gospel. While preaching the Word of God is part of our Christian mission, living the Gospel is is a more powerful testimony.

It's pretty early in the a.m. I hope that makes
sense.

Peace in Christ,

Paul

Paromer,

Yes, those are general principles. Your list does not include some of the most central issues of mission like 1. Starting new Churches; 2. Individual witness by all members of the Body to those who aren't: and 3. Hospitality. In general, you are correct.

CDL,

We are on the same page, just filling in the details.

I want to reitarate the importance of monasticism (East and West) because the evangelical counsels, poverty, chastity and obedience are practiced by monks (and other religious). Historically, monks have evangelized many souls.

Evangelisism is our job too. Evangelism is not optional for us laymen, whatever our state in life. As Catholics we need instruction in how to evangelize. As you know, evangelism is foreign to many Catholics.

I'm not good at writing papers, but I offer a thought:

Preach the gospel at all times; if necessary, use words.

St. Francis of Asissi

God bless you for all your work in fulfilling Christ's "Great Commission." Matt 28:19-20

Paul
