Friends,

A group has been forming in Peoria, Illinois that may well lead to some house Churches and then to a mission, and finally to a Church. Some of us are going to Peoria this afternoon to get acquainted and pray with these fine people. We will see what kind of help we can offer. Pray for us, please.

Yes, Glory to God! Now let's stop pussyfooting around and do something about it instead of saying that we don't have the resources!

I have been to Peoria to visit my daughter who lives there. I guess they have not started on a Byzantine church yet? Just checking unless someone from there wants to correspond via email?

Dan - Great News!! When was it decided that a group would be visiting Peoria? It's amazing to me that so much is going on and so very few know of it until last minute. Every time I ask about invitations so that I and others can attend, the response is relative to "it just came up - last minute" I haven't received emails either! Why wasn't the opportunity of a social/prayer visit extended to others? I'm happy but feeling excluded...

Farther Loya, maybe you can shed some light as to why these "events" are taking place without the parishoners having an offer to attend. (Dan's posting does not include an offer however it's the only information avaialable)?

I know this sounds like "sour grapes" but the reality is... if I and others are excluded from the events and prayer visits, what kind of resouce can you really expect us to be? At the very least we should be informed of events and news on a timely basis as the official evangelism website only offers info. from the meeting in Whiting.

Larry,

I refer you the post in "Church News". Apparently this gathering is not a last minute thought. It seems to be well though out. As far who is directly involved, I suggest you take it up with Father Thomas directly, since he appears to be the lead on this.

In IC XC,
Father Anthony+

Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

Dear Professor Dan,

Here's hoping that this will "play in Peoria,"

Yours in Christ,

Alex

Dear Larry,
I understand your frustration, I heard about it yesterday (while they were literally leaving) and I couldn't go because of a Coal City youth group event. I've come to realize that as times goes on, things will get more structured, but until then, count on spur of the moment things that no one knows about unless they keep in constant contact with the people who are trying to do things. The Spirit at times can be highly unstructured.

Peace of Christ,
Nathan Augustine, son of Joe Sebastian, one of the people who went at the spur of the moment.

Dan -
I received your private message - thank you, but what I want is to have an open channel of communication regarding events/happenings/status...this should have happened already..... It doesn't matter if Father went or not... Dan, you know that if I can make any event I will!!!

Fr. Anthony -
Good to know there was a posting but it doesn't communicate to those parishioners who don't use the internet, especially the seniors... there is simply not enough communication - especially in the announcements and the church bullitin.

Thanks for your replies.

I don't understand how this works, but we have a phone tree at church. It is stickly phone - no one else does anything. The church secratary puts a message on it and every parishner is called by this phone thing. That is one way of getting the message out.

Thanks for your reply and the link - to bad the link was the only communicaiton. Would have been helpful to have an announcement at the close of Liturgy and in the "bulletin".... So many of our parishioners do not use the internet!!!!!

Very true, but I know I have no doubts that again, as time goes on, things will become more structured. Nothin to worry bout in my opinion.

I agree there's nothing to worry about as long as you consider poor communication of the events/opportunities nothing to worry about...

Larry-

I did not say that there was not a problem. Communication does need improvement drastically in some areas. What I am saying, though, is that communication will get BETTER and for that reason I'm not worried.
