I know we have seen this debated about in various threads in the different sections of the Forum. Now apparently an official Vatican directive has come out regarding the term Pro Multis. Below is the article from Catholic World News.

Pro Multis means "For Many" rules Vatican [cwnews.com]

Praise the Lord.

I have been reading Zenit and I am very impressed with the latest orthodox teachings being promoted by the Vatican.

We of the Latin Rite are ecstatic about this decision, I think I can say for all of us. This gives another opening for returning to the Tridentine Mass, and for reconciliation with dissidents such as the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX). Praise to the All Holy One!

Did our Blessed Lord, not say something about straining the gnats! Now what did he ever mean by that?

One thing is certain, if our Lord had translated a text from one language to another, He would have done it correctly the first time.

Anytime the Roman Church moves back closer to Orthodoxy, it is a good thing.

Alexandr, the "Roman Church," along with the other Churches in Communion with Rome, is the standardbearer of Orthodoxy in its fullness.

Em, the meaning of pro multis has never changed. The issue has been over faulty translation in the English-speaking parts of the Roman church. It isn't a question involving the church as a whole or one of the church moving back to a particular position. It is simply a clarification.
