If someone left Orthodoxy for a time and attended another church during that time what is required to return to the Orthodox Church?

Dear Daniel,

First, welcome to ByzCath, and I pray that your experience with us will be a good one!

I can probably answer your question as an Orthodox priest. Depending on a couple of questions I might have, it would determine what if anything would be required to return to the church. I am going to pose a few simple questions, and I would ask that you reply using our PM system which I explain at the end of my post how to use.

When you left the Orthodox Church, were you formally received into another church or confession? If so, I would be curious as to why, and also why you are seeking to re-enter the church. The answers to this would be able to help me guide you. Nothing is impossible but somethings such as what you are currently seeking, I believe should be considered private at the moment.

If you click on the the underline of my name above my avatar (icon) you will see the option of sending a private message. Click on that and type out your message reply. I look forward in trying to help you.

Wishing you God's blessings.

In IC XC,
Father Anthony+

Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai
