Peace!

Earlier this morning I spoke briefly by telephone with the new Apostolic Visitor for Syro-Malankara Catholics in Europe and North America, Mar Joseph Konnath.

On January 5, 2005, Mar Joseph was named Titular Bishop of Sicilibba, Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan of Trivandrum, and Apostolic Visitor for Syro-Malankara Catholics in Europe and North America.

Mar Joseph will be consecrated bishop on Saturday, February 19, 2005 in St. Mary`s Cathedral, Thiruvananthapuram (formerly Trivandrum) by His Beatitude Cyil Mar Baselios Malancharuvil, O.I.C., Major Archbishop and Catholicos of Trivandrum, assisted by Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom Kalloor, Eparch of Marthandom, and Isaac Mar Cleemis Thottunkal, Eparch of Tiruvalla.

Many years!

Charles, who has seen the discussion on an Orthodox board regarding the title of Catholicos and who employs it here because it is used by the Syro-Malankaras themselves.

Good afternoon.

In my original post, I used the title "Catholicos" for the new Major Archbishop of Trivandrum.

Today, in perusing the FIDES website, I found that he is called Catholicos in all of their dispatches in different languages except one: English.

Here is the French notice:
