One of the side doors on our Church was left open, someone came in, and broke the window in the chapel door. All they took was the money in the candle stands, praise be to God. Apparently they had no idea of the treasures that are within our Churches. Thanks be to God! They could have just pulled on the door that goes into the Church it would have opened right up, it is never locked. However, the window that was broken, was a very old leaded stain glass of the Theotokos and Christ Child. Dear Lord, forgive this person/person's every transgression. Restore the beauty that was taken from your Church, make it more gracious than before, so once again your Mother is honored in this special way. It is odd too, that the door which was entered, has a huge icon of Our Lady of the Portal, something like that, I don't remember the exact name at it. I am sure we will get huge lectures this weekend on the doors to the Church. It is sad too, because we have pretty much been comfortable with the doors being left open some of the day for people to come in and pray. Lord Jesus please restore what the locusts have eaten.

Pani Rose,
I am sorry to hear what happened to your parish!
It is shameful that such a thing would happen to a church.
But God plays judo with all sorts of sinners...sometimes a crime against Christ makes them a target for His mercy.
My father ordered a $100 missal that was delivered to his doorstep in Virginia, only to be stolen that day from the doorstep. I often think about the surprise the thief received when he opened the box and saw his prize!
Who knows, maybe he even opened it and read...
Prayers for your parish (and for the thief).

It's truly inspirational that you can forgive these people and pray for them Pani Rose .... I for one would like to catch them and give them a good spanking. Not really hurt them mind you.... but sometimes people need a good lesson....

Dear Borislav, Tonight at prayer meeting, Sister said well Jesus entered the world through Blessed Mother, now this person has just entered the Church through Blessed Mother. I had to laugh, I thought she is right, if this person has no faith, Blessed Mother is not going to leave them alone. They just messed with her icon And, like Ebed said about his dad's book, they didn't know what they were messing with. I am sure now that before their life is through they will come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, and hopefully enter the Church the right way, through the front door.

Dear Pani Rose
I remember when the local fire warden came to Jordanville to check for fire regulations. When Fr Vladimir took him into the Church, the Warden was amazed at all the gold and silver and gems and that with all that the doors were unlocked. The warden asked "What about thieves?" and Fr Vladimir answered that the doors were unlocked "Especially for thieves".

Pani Rose,
My prayers are for you and your parish, that the Lord will help them overcome this sense of violation. I also pray that the thieves will have a conversion of heart and that they will seek repentance for this act.
In IC XC, Father Anthony+
Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

"What about thieves?" and Fr Vladimir answered that the doors were unlocked "Especially for thieves". That's SUCH a great quote! Thank you for posting it, I'm going to use it in one of my papers one of these days! If you don't mind that is

Lord, turn all the devils into light. Thank you. Amen. (Glad no people were injured. Thank you.)

Through the intercession of St. Dismas I pray that Pani Rose's Church will be protected from further attacks by thieves and vandals. I also pray through his intercession for the conversion of the thieves and that they make restitution to the Church. Lord have mercy on the parishioners of St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church and on the persons who have violated your sanctuary!
