*Only in America are western drugs and surgery considered mainstream. Everywhere else in the world people receive herbs, homeopathy, massage, joint manipulations, acupuncture, pray, meditate way before they ever would even consider taking drugs or have surgery.

And I'm sure you know why that is, don't you????

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If you could get the multi billion dollar pharmaceutical industry out of healthcare, you might see a drastic change in what passes for medicine in this country.

For instance, I have Hepatitis C and as far as I can tell, have had it for over 20 years. It popped up a couple of years ago when I got some blood tests done as part of a routine physical. The response of the gastroenterologist I went to? He suggested I take the standard treatment, which is Interfeuron shots for a year.

I did a bit of research and found out that A) Interfeuron makes you dreadfully sick for days after each shot. B) It is only successful in one of three patients with my type of hepatitis. C) It can run as high as $50,000 for a year's course of treatments D) There are other alternatives out there which the doctors generally don't talk about.

Now why do you think that number D exists? Because doctors are not trained in alternative, herbal, and nutritional therapies in college. Some of the largest medical colleges in this country were quietly funded at the turn of the last century by the big oil barons, who had found out that pharmaceuticals had an oil base and, being shrewd business men, got into the medicine business rather quickly. Colleges teach doctors to push drugs and regard other forms of medicine as "quackery".

Yet I have had great success with other forms of medical treatment. About 12 years ago, I developed a severe case of gallstones. Eating became a real nuisance due to the pain I would get with fatty foods. Of course, my doctor suggested I opt for surgery and removal of the gall bladder.

Barbarians!!

I went to my local health food store, which is run by practitioners who live the lifestyle, and found a way to get the stones out without sacrificing part of my body.

Guess what? The stones have been gone for 12 years and the gall bladder is still where God put it in the first place (I must say that the treatment is rather unpleasant, but highly effective!).

I hope that this is not taken the wrong way, but I blame "orthodox" medicine for taking the life of our dear priest, Fr Mike. It was not the cancer which killed him. Like so many thousands of others, the chemotherapy (voodooism in a three piece suit in my opinion) killed him by destroying his body while it destroyed the cancer cells. There are proven remedies out there for cancer, but again, because cancer is a MULTI BILLION DOLLAR A YEAR INDUSTRY, both in fund raising (which I NEVER support) and so called "treatments", do you really think they are going to admit to a cure being out there?

Suspicious???? Conspiracy freak????

You bet I am!!! I know human nature and the Holy Scriptures, which accurately says "For the LOVE of money is the root of all evil" Human history is filled with example after example of men struggling to obtain mastery over other men by means of government, finance, ownership of property, etc. Without the grace of God, we would all be selfish animals who see others as simply tools to make our own lives happy.

I hope that some day enough people will wake up and realize that just because it is WESTERN does not mean that it has some sort of holy imprimateur upon it, medically speaking. Yes, there are things we have invented and done that are very helpful, but there are many, many things that exist not because they are good medicine, but because they are gravy boats of $$$$ for doctors and pharmaceutical companies. And please, I am not saying that all doctors think this way either. Many of them do the best they know how having been brainwashed in universitie which exist to teach them how to push drugs on their patients!! They are conscientious and love people and surely do much good. What I am saying is that we can do a whole lot better.

Dear Dr. Eric,

Thank you for that! I'm looked at as a looney for avoiding doctors, with the exception of some blood tests. I have the belief that some examinations are irritating and may do damage to one's body...unless needed of course. Also that the doctors are getting kick backs from the pharmaceutical companies. confused

I recall telling my mother, with her high cholesterol years ago, that olive oil was good for her. She listened to her doctor of course, not to me, and kept using corn oil. What a pity! She missed out on a good 'taste'. wink

Then there was my chronic fatigue. I spent so many years being listless, until I tried increasing my dosage of Vitamin C. Worked wonders...and I could go on and on and on and on and on. biggrin
