OK. So some changes are being made. I for one know my grandparents and great grand parents arent rolling over in their graves. They would be more concerned about how much paprika is being weighed out for the kolbaz instead of arguing over words which, in all reality, will be accepted by God no matter how they are said.

With that off my chest, When/Where can we buy the new text books, specifically, for children? When I received First Holy Communion I was given a Byzantine childs mass and prayer book. The website for Byzantine Seminary Press has nothing updated and I have ants in my pants to get my hands on a few personal copies as gifts. Im hoping in the grand scheme of things, the future of our Religious beliefs are not being forgotten.

Hi Matthew:
You have a great idea, and I wonder if another rite within the our Byzantine rite might have childrens books? They may be more up to date than what we can offer. John

They have been made available to the Van Nuys' churches (at least St. Stephen's in Phoenix and St. Thomas in Gilbert, AZ). So I'm assuming they have been distributed throughout the whole Metropolia.

As far as children's books go, you might have to wait a while ...

Hello Matthew, welcome to the forum!

I am just curious, does your parish still do a 'First Holy Communion', as it was when you were small?

Thanks,
Michael

Matthew, for younger children (probably up to age 6-7), try the "Guardian Angel Children's Prayer Book" published by the Ukrainians. My daughters loved this book -- has icon-like illustrations of the Liturgy and Feast Days. Here's one source:
