I attended DL today (Presentation) and we used the new books. Here are my impressions.

The books are easy to use.

The music seems rather flat and lifeless to me - and this may be just because we're not used to it. The cantor found out we were using the new books immediately prior to liturgy and stuck to the simplest (generally the first) settings.

I do not know which of the priestly prayers must be chanted out loud and what is optional - I'm not sure Father knew either. But there is a lot of passive listening in the Revised Liturgy. My opinion is that it is good to chant the prayers audibly from time to time but not all of them at every liturgy. The Byzantine liturgy has a strong interactive character to it which should be preserved.

To my knowledge, no one stood for the consecration.

After the service Father apologized for introducing the new liturgy without more planning and preparation. He had gotten the impression at conferences that it was a drop-in. I think at a minimum, the cantor and the priest should do a few dry runs together.

Yes, we did kneel. I normally stand on Sundays since I sing in the choir and I prefer it. Being a guest in this parish I was not inclined to "stand" out.

Kneeling is by far a minor issue compared to many other issues that exist with this new Liturgy. It can't be the issue that the general public finds wrong with the Litugy. Kneeling is simply a practice found in Ukrainain/ACROD Orthodox Churches, UGGC parishes and Ruthenian Byzantine Catholic parishes, it's a cultural practice.

Kneeling on Sunday may be a cultural practice but from what I have been told it's wrong - so is kneeling for the Gospel - but I've seen that in more than one place too [ and that practice seems to be appearing from Ukraine ]

All these are symptomatic of the " I'll do it my way " mentality
