This is Byzantine Catholic News because there will be some BC's who leave the Church to join one of these Evangelical Sects.

U.S. evangelicals eye renewed domestic drive [today.reuters.com]

DALLAS (Reuters) - The number of southern U.S. evangelical Christians is not growing as fast as the wider population, leading to a renewed effort to win converts on the domestic front from key groups like the Hispanic community.

That was one message that came through at a three-day "Empower Evangelism" conference hosted by the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, or SBTC, which wrapped up on Wednesday.

"There has been a slowdown of the growth of our churches and our converts ... We have not been keeping pace with the population growth," said Frank Page, president of the national Southern Baptist Convention and a pastor from South Carolina.

Here is the interesting part:

Much of that growth has been among the Hispanic population which is traditionally Catholic and is viewed as a key target for Protestant evangelical activity.

At this week's conference, Spanish translations were pointedly available for the talks and sermons.

"We are looking to the Hispanic population for growth," said Mike Gonzales, the Hispanic Initiative and Ethnic Ministries Director of the SBTC.

He said there was now 127 Hispanic Baptist churches affiliated with the SBTC compared to 77 just over two years ago -- fast growth but it is very recent and off a low base

Don't think that the Slavic Churches aren't a "target" as well!

There is much more to the article so please read it.

It's disgusting, isn't it? Why don' they target the Mormons? Or the Jehovah's Witnesses? Or the Scientologists? Folk who need a real conversion to Christ.

there's an answer to that one , Domilsean .

Those groups you mentioned
Quote
Mormons? Or the Jehovah's Witnesses? Or the Scientologists?

have members who are trained in evangelising and follow a script and frankly can run rings round most people when they beard them on their doorsteps.

Until every Church has their members trained in this way then doorstop visitors by other groups such as the Southern Baptists , will continue to ignore the Mormons, JWs and Scientologists .

Want some good news? Go to www.catholicreport.org [catholicreport.org] and read about David Hartline's new book "The Tide Is Turning Toward Catholicism" - it will make you feel better - the in migration of former Protestant Evangelicals to the Catholic and Orthodox churches has started! The tide has indeed turned....

Noticed the Evangelicals have not targeted converting Muslims as their number one agenda when it should be. But nnnoo lets convert those pagan catholics alrighty and as been discussed no Mention of Mormons, Scientogist, Christian Scientist, JW"s and other cults. I am sure they are targets but they seem to take a back seat to catholics whome seem to need Christ more for some reason than Mohhamed down the street. They should just be honest they target catholics because they are the easiest targets as catholics already accept the New Testament as the word of God play some Bible ping pong and you convert them pretyy easy their is even a nickname for it the Roman Road where they select some selective passages from Paul mostly Romans and of course the Ehphesians passage of faith adn works and bam you got a convert easy. Now when your talking to these other religiosn its not so easy but hey they are concerned about the bottome line and not concerned about the truly lost.
