Dear John,

I am not a member of this parish, but I will be able to answer next week.

To our dear brethren here, please try to understand that many of the Eastern Catholic Churches have undergone many, many persecutions and sometimes, the only way to survive during certain persecutions was to adapt, whether by choice or need.

It is directed by Blessed John Paul II that the Eastern Churches rediscover their original identities. That will take time. Please lend your prayers, assistance, and positive thoughts.

An ill person will heal more quickly with love, and care, than being told how ill he is. I feel the same principals hold true here.

In Christ,

Michael

Dear Michael,

I just wanted to tell you that I thought this was quite beautifully said. I pray that everyone takes note of this. Nit picking is not charitable, and all the proper titles, services, rubrics, and fasts, etc. do NOTHING for the soul if brotherly love, above all else, does not accompany them.

In Christ,
Alice

Divine Liturgy on a weekday during the Great Fast?

Meat, Eggs, and Dairy after the Liturgy?

Is this Patriarch Orthodox in Communion with Rome?

Yes, this "Patriarch" is in communion with Rome.

I pray for all Ukrainian Catholic Churches to be healed and brought back into communion with Canonical Orthodoxy.

Well it wasn't an Alliturgical day ,and it was a great occasion for the Parish concerned , I can't really see any reason why it would not be celebrated in due style [ I wouldn't care to admit in public what I had for dinner last night - my husband's birthday ] .

If it was a weekday of Lent, it was an aliturgical day. Even the Ruthenian calendar acknowledges this:

"Monday to Friday in the Great Fast are aliturgical (without Divine Liturgy) days. The Presanctified Liturgy is celebrated Wednesday and Friday."
