Tonight at 10:00 p.m.(ET) a Russian Orthodox choir will sing the Passion of St. Matthew, composed by Bishop Hilarion Aleyev of Vienna. I believe the concert took place in Rome. This is very heartening for our East-West relations.

I only watched the 1st half hour of The Passion according to St Matthew, darn intro was long and the EWTN commentor kept saying the Passion of St. Matthew.
I enjoyed what I heard hopefully I can catch another replay.

Unfortunately, my cable company turns the channel that gives me EWTN during the day, into Pentecostal broadcasting after 7 p.m. Alice

I wish Chattanooga had EWTN on the Basic Cable setup. alas, not enough Catholics here to support it. we don't even have our own Bishop (Latin or EC)or cathedral here, we have to rely on Knoxville, 105 miles away. Much Love, Jonn

This was an extraordinary piece of music! I was so impressed by Bishop Hilarion's composition and it was a joy to see and hear him chant portions of Matthew's gospel which was interspersed in the music. What awesome, booming Russian voices! It was also nice to see an icon of the crucifixion hanging in the background. This was an extraordinary gesture of unity and I can't help but think that the Latin Catholics in the audience had to be extremely moved by the performance. Bravo!!!

Missed it but hope to catch a replay. It would sure be nice if they would show more of the Eastern Christian traditions, at least during Holy Week and Easter.

We watched EWTN on satelite in New Zealand over the weekend. We are pleased to see New Life in Trinity. An Easter Christian Induction to the Mysteries of Christian Initiation. It was great that these repeats around the Vigel Mass and Easter Mass with Pope Benedict. The Eastern Church is almost unknown in this country. I hope that EWTN will air more of this programs. Maybe a Divine Liturgy with a full choir. Maybe a Pontifical Divine Liturgy. This is the way to give the Eastern Church a place in the South Pacific sun.
