Let's all be in prayer for the victims of the tragic shooting today at Virginia Tech University, as well as for their families and friends who are now overwhelmed with grief.

I just heard about this. May our Lord have mercy!

My unworthy prayers for the shocked and grieving families and friends of these young people.

My unworthy prayers for God's mercy on these young people taken before their time, and who may not have been spiritually ready for their accounting.

My unworthy prayers for our country and for all universities, schools, and other public places--that they may be free of danger and all evil.

KYRIE ELEISON!

In the Risen Christ,
Alice

Now they are saying as many as 29, maybe more. I have friends waiting to hear about family members but it does not sound promising.

Cannot help but weep.

Lord have mercy!

According to the Drudgereport there are now 32 confirmed dead. Lord have mercy on the dead! I second Alice's concern that these young people may not have been prepared for their spiritual accounting. May the God of all mercy look in pity on these his creatures and remember that they are but dust. Save Lord!

One girl I graduated with from my very small private high school goes to Virginia Tech, but she's apparently okay and doesn't know any of the victims (so far). Deo gratias for that, and Kyrie eleison for the rest. frown

Oh sweet Theotokos, cast your mantle of compassion and love on those who mourn today. Comfort them with your assurances of mercy, hold them close to your love.

Gentle Saviour, have mercy on the souls of those who died this day. Lead them to your healing light, let them rest in your eternal love.

Lord, have mercy on us all.

Your previous post at 4:07 PM included political content that had nothing to do with the original prayer request. All such posts will be deleted or edited no matter who makes them. This is, after all, a prayer forum.

It is evening here and as the impact of this tragedy sinks in, I say 'Amen' to the above prayer and especially pray for those who have undergone surgery and are still in critical condition. God's healing and yes, please, God, have mercy on us all.

In Christ,

Porter

For the repose of the soul of Reema Samaha -- a parishioner at Holy Transfiguration Melkite church and a freshman at Virginia Tech -- murdered in her classroom, and for the comfort and consolation of her family and all who loved her...

Lord, have mercy.
