Does anyone know of the history of the Eastern Catholic Church in Poland? I was told that Poland was originally Byzantine rite. I will be studying in Poland this summer, and would appreciate any information about the Eastern Catholic Church there.

Fr. Serge or Alex (Dr. Roman) might know the current state of the Eastern Catholic Church(es) in Poland.

According to the short survey undertaken by Fr. Roberson (of CNEWA), only the UGCC has a significant presence in Poland today:

(1) Metropolitan Archeparchy of Przemysl-Warsaw, with 84 parishes; and

(2) Eparchy of Wroclaw-Gdansk, with 58 parishes.
