I heard those exist, where can I actually see one!? While I'm not running for public office (and don't think I ever will), I'm both Pro-Life and a Democrat. There are more of us than you might think. Ryan I too will add my name to the list of Pro-life Democrats on our forum. - Lance Here's the website: http://www.democratsforlife.org/Bill

look at the Catechism and the four sins which cry to heaven are mostly to do with social justice and poverty, and abortion doesn't figure, When the American Colonies broke from Britain they wrote a Declaration of Independence stating that everyone is born in unalienable rights - life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Jefferson used that word order, not just because it sounds good, which since Jefferson wrote it, of course it does sound good. There is a logical progression: you can't pursue happiness if you don't have liberty, and you can't have liberty unless you have life. Social justice means pursuing policies that will make life good for everyone, not just the few. But again, you can't make life good if you don't first protect life. Both the Old and the New Testament talk about social justice specifically vis a vis not neglecting or, God forbid, oppressing widows and orphans. These were the groups of Biblical times that were the most marginalized and disenfranchised. They were not only impoverished, but they were impoverished with no one to speak for them. Also in Biblical times, children were welcomed as a blessing. For the OT man, who often had no concept of life after death, his sons were his chance for immortality. A woman who was childless was considered cursed. How different is our society today where children are so often unwelcome! I can't think of any group that more needs protection - needs social justice - than unborn children.

I love your post Sophia! Not a point of view which is oft expressed in my neck of the woods; although that may be changing, I managed to briefly vote Bob Santamaria's old party in last election, (till it got kicked out in a recount).

I would vote for Mitt Romney before any other Republican canitates. I would rather have a moron than a murderer. I don't know enough good about any canitate to vote yet.
I'm very concerned that the west is falling to Satan. Even the churches are rejecting Christ. Marketing 101 Get clergy and doctors to accept product/idea and everyone will accept it. Lies work well. The only reason abortion is in slight decline is the clergy stands against it. Otherwise the poor would be forced to have abortions en-masse. I can list several things that have crept into the church as spiritual cancers. Materialism, Drug dependance, Homosexuality, Secularism, etc. Islam will inherit Christ if the western churches continue to reject Christ a little at a time. There will be a Christian branch of Islam one day if this continues. They will be practicing Christians but calling themselves Muslim and almost no church left. This can happen in the next 100 years. There will be unity between Christians, Jews, and Muslims one day in the next 200 years.
The situation is so bad that I can't even speak up here with out being silenced.

Oh my.... And their candidate for 2008 is...................... and the GOP consistantly pro-life candidate for 2008 is?? Sam Brownback, who also supports a number of "social justice" issues that Democrats might subscribe to.

Subdeacon Borislav, Sam Brownback was already a Christian before he was formally received into the Catholic Church. a) What can it possibly mean that someone who "gets baptized is less Christian than the person who got baptized at birth right", and b) what relevance does it have to the question: "What GOP candidate is there who has been consistently pro-life"?

I think its rather clear. Brian is suggesting that because Mitt Romney is a recent convert to the Pro-Life cause, His position is somehow weaker than someone who has been consistently pro life.
I disagree, thus the analogy.
I did not quote you, I quoted Brian, so my statement is not directed at you Michael.

Subdeacon Borislav, Thank you. I guess I jumped into the thread without understanding the whole context! As to that question, I guess that depends on how convincing he can be! Michael P.S. Do you have any thoughts about Sam Brownback?

I like Sam Brownback, the only problem is that He would not be able to beat Hillary or Barak I like Mike Huckabee also, but the same goes for him.
