Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

Dear Brethren,

We are finally rolling out the revised Divine Liturgy, and many of our faithful are now closer to God age wise, and as a result, are not able to read small print as well. One parishioner wondered if there would be large print Liturgy books available.

Until such a time occurs, I have downloaded the entire PDF file from the Cantor's Institute and started pricing the cost of printing the entire publication with 8.5 by 11" format. In black and white only, I am being quoted from my local Staples and Office Depot both 8 cents per side. Color (black and red) is .94 and .82 per side respectively from the two stores. This does not include the cost of punching holes and finding a suitable cover. Total price is approximately $40.00 for the new book in the 8.5 x 11" size with a plastic cover.

Does anyone know of any company that could print these in the larger format and provide a plastic or soft cover at a price under 25.00 a book? This is a real need and many would be very appreciative of your efforts!

Why do black and red? My mom is one who has vision problems (age 92) and the red is even more difficult for her to read than small print.

Maybe even look for someone in the Eparchy who has a business with a large copier who would do the copying at cost. Copy onto drilled paper and you won't have to worry about hole punching (unless you want to do GBC (plastic) binding).

If you're doing these for older folks, then also think of the weight of the books in 8-1/2 x 11 format on 20 lb. copy paper. At almost 500 pages, the entire book will be the weight of half a ream of paper! Consider doing one book with the Liturgies of St. John and St. Basil, the 8 Resurrection tones, the commons for classes of saints and the hymns in one book, and the Moveable and Immoveable Feasts, etc. on separate handouts when they're required.

Of course, these suggestions are only valid if you have permission from the Metropolia to photocopy for this special purpose.

Thank you for the insight! You are right, we do not need it in red and black for the test book.

My post was for hope in someone providing me with a contact within the Eparchy that might assist with this endeavor.

I would personally prefer to create the whole publication as one to get feedback from our parishioners, but breaking it up later might be the proper route to go.

Sophia is right about the copyright. The pew book was published by the Byzantine Catholic Metropolitan Church Sui Juris of Pittsburgh, USA, not the MCI. Permission to duplicate likely needs to come from chancery in Pittsburgh. Check with Prof. Thompson. I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.
