Remember two things:
(i) the Melkite church did not "become Catholic". It simply sought communion with the See of Rome as it existed before the schism.
(ii) the Melkite Patriarch (Youssef) sent a letter of assent to Pastor Aeternus, but specifying the same condition as articulated by the Council of Florence, i.e., "maintaining all rights and privileges of the patriarchs".
It never sought to be subsumed.

Is "Neo-Chalcedonian" refered to in the Creed?

It's been a while since I've read it, but in "Byzantine Theology" by Fr. John Meyendorff, I think "neo-Chalcedonianism" is explained as the more complete synthesis of Cyrillic thought with Chalcedonian dogma concretized in the Vth Oecumenical Council.

The author of "Neo-Chalcedonian" is a wonderful fellow named William Ballow. He just graduated high school but he possesses more philosophical acuity than even most academic adults I know. (And he's a hoot, in terms of his personality smile )
