Hi! I am hoping that someone might be able to tell me where I can obtain a copy of the music that is playing on the enclosed link. The website says it is the Hail Mary in Slavonic (liturgical Russian), by Father Deacon Z. Trubachyov. I have Googled that and had no luck.

I'd love to find a copy somewhere so I don't have to keep pulling up the website to hear it! smile Thank you so much!

Dear Andrea,

Alas, you have fallen victim to a badly written commentary. Church-Slavonic is not "liturgical Russian"; Church-Slavonic and Russian are two distinct languages. The expression "the Hail Mary in Russian" really has no referent, which is why looking for the music for it will not produce results.

That said, your best bet for finding this music might be to ask Vladimir Morosan (his web site is called something like Musica Russica). It's a nice setting, so I wish you luck.

Incidentally, this piece is properly sung towards the end of Great Vespers if a full Vigil is taking place.

Try this link; let me know if it's ok.

Had no trouble with the link - and it seems to be the same recording. A pleasant setting, if a bit roccocco for my taste.

Having sung the work in question a few times in a liturgical setting, I can say it's gorgeous!

It also exists in a few redactions, which vary the ending slightly in terms of part-writing and repeats of the last phrase of the text.

Do you also want it in pdf form?

Actually I didn't pay much attention to what was actually written on the website. blush I just got so taken with the piece of music.

Thank you for the web site suggestion!

Would it have the words? If so, I would love that!

Thank you!

You're welcome. For a Carpatho-Rus' setting of the prayer:

The midi playback, though "exact," does not do justice to the setting.

Dn. Anthony

I don't think midi does justice to any music. smile

Thank you for the links!
