VATICAN CITY - An American Jew cured of a brain tumor after attending Mass with Pope John Paul II. A Mexican boy stricken with leukemia who recovered after a papal kiss. Even a cardinal who regained his ability to speak after John Paul touched his throat.

Christ is Risen!

Like Christ, many saints performed miracles while alive ... as we see with Pope John Paul the Great.

In our own Eastern tradition I quickly think of St. Herman of Alaska and St. Seraphim of Sarov. I know there were many others.

"Blessed is the fervor of Your saints, now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen."
