Can anyone here point me to an official source for the rubrics or canons for priests who are concelebrating in a rite different from thier own (i.e., a EC priest concelebrating in the Latin Rite or a Latin Rite priest concelebrating an Eastern liturgy)?

Also, I know that some clergy are bi-ritual...how precisely does one go about becoming bi-rtiual? Are there any canons available on this subject?

Many thanks.

I'm actually in the process of writing my dissertation and the subject popped into my head. Really, it's to satisfy inate curiosity of "following every line of inquiry" that my professors have beaten into my head as I'm not sure how relevant or benificial it will ultimately be. I wanted something "official" (or at least something referencing something official) becuase if I do wind up making reference to it in my work, I'll obviously want to cite the source.

Thanks and thanks. I've lurked before, but this is the first time I've made a post, so I'm just trying to feel my way around in a new community.

Good grief - that article first cites the inaugural Liturgy of Pope Benedict as an example of good things - and then cites a prohibition of incorporating elements of two or more liturgical traditions into one service. Did the author of the article go to the trouble of watching Pope Benedict's inaugural liturgy?

Is this intended to imply, for example, that it should be forbidden to use music for the Sanctus (which is itself used in all the present Eucharistic Liturgies approved by the Church) unless the music was composed and published for the particular liturgical tradition in question? Does the same apply to the Lord's Prayer?

I would gladly continue (reductio ad absurdum is a favorite intellectual exercise of mine), but I trust the point is made. From legalists, Good Lord deliver us!
