Through your prayers Most Holy Theotokos we pray for him who has lived his life for your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. As the woman with a hemorage reached out and thouched the hymn of Christ's garment and was healed, let Pope John Paul II reach out and touch you Lord, heal him. Also, Lord for the man that was lowered through the roof by his friends, you told him he was saved by the faith of a few close friends. Hear the prayers of his friends Christ, your Body crying out to you for his health to be returned. All for your honor and glory Jesus in your Mighty Name. Thank you Abba, amen.

Prayers by all means. A much-loved friend, resident in Rome, had the same bug a couple of weeks ago and has recovered nicely; God grant the Holy Father the same expeditious recovery. Meanwhile God grant that the Holy Father's stay in hospital should be restful and recuperative.

I was surfing the channels tonight and came across TBN of all places. I thought they were doing a program on the pope cause he was in the hospital. But surprise, surprise!

It is a series called Great Souls, it was on at 12am central time. It is on six souls that changed the twentith century. The one I watched on JPII was excellent. It is not done.

These include JPII, Mother Thresa, Billy Graham, Alexander Soginetizin (sp) wrote the Gulag Archipeligo from behind the iron curtain, Nelson Mandela, and someone else I did not recognize right off.

See if you can catch them. I could not find a listing for it on TBN. But I know that was the channel I watched it on.

Rose,

It looks to me from the TBN website schedule as if the show you saw will repeat Friday at 5:30pm, Pacific Time. The 6th subject of the series is Elie Wiesel. Mr. Weisel is a survivor of Auschwitz and a prolific (and quite excellent) author. He won the Nobel Peace Prize about 20 years ago and served as, I believe, first President of the US Holocaust Memorial Commission.

Many years,

Neil

The Discovery Times channel yesterday had a hour program on Pope John Paul II,(1hr) Inside the Vatican, and the life of a few men entering the seminary (1hr).

Good stuff, though I felt a little weird with the Pope entering the hospital, quite a coincidence.

I was watching the same program on the Pope. There was a strange tone to the program, almost like he had already died. I hope the Pope is better soon.

The program of which y'all speak is at least two years old (I should know, I saw it at least a year and a half ago).

The best part is the chanting of the Litany of the Saints at the ordination at the end of the show.

It is very hard for me to wish the Pope a swift recovery, especially when I see him suffering in a state of constant martyrdom.

It pains me watching him sitting or standing for hours in heat and cold in order to feed his flock.

Oh yes, for the universal Church, he is sorely needed, but how much more pleasant it would be for this holy man to be, as they say, in Abraham's bosom.

I recall when my mother was in a coma. I read the Akathist to her every day, and finally after a few weeks, I finally prayed to my Lord, that since my mother is not able to pray for herself, I will take her place and say the prayer for her. I then asked in my mother's place, for our Lady to please do what's best.' Early next morning she died. It was the Friday of the Akathist.

Sometimes I wonder about that poor girl in Florida, the one that is in a vegetative state, and stirring so much contraversy. If they remove her intravenous feeding, she will die of starvation; a painful death. So instead of all those rediculous court battles, why not simply turn to our Lord, and ask Him to do what is the best for her.

I read John Paul II will recover swiftly. I doubt a little flu will take such a strong man. Off the top of my head..
His parents both had died before he got out of his teens.
He was ran over by a Germany troop carrying truck.
He studied in the seminary underground with the constant threat of becoming a martyr (to be thrown in a camp because you are studying to be a priest and if he would have died at the hands of the oppressor would most likely makeyou a martyr?).
He was shot in His own front yard at St. Peter's.
He has worked long hours, involved Himself in the world, made great changes, helped the sick, poor, oppressed.
Helped inspire the Polish people (what's the name of the movement, can't remember at this hour) to unite and help route out communism from the inside out.
Continues to do his job at the age of 84.
Most 20 year olds I know don't do half the work in a week that He does in a day.
John Paul II is a Great Man. Speedy Recovery to Him!
