After much thinking and searching, I've come to a crossroads. I have found a wonderful, welcoming Episcopal parish. I am considering leaving the Orthodox Church to become Episcopal. As you may remember from a post of the past I've been struggling with the very existence of God. I feel this new church could be a place where I could plug in and reconnect with Him. But as there are many things I love about the Eastern church, namely her spirituality, I'm hesitant to cut my ties completely. Just trying to discern.

O Lord, You who steadied the hand of Peter as he began to sink on the stormy sea, if you are with 'WEG', no one is against. Grant the shield of faith and the mighty armor of the Holy Spirit to protect and guide to do Your will. The future is put into Your hands, O Lord, and may 'WEG' follow You to a the fullness of life in Christ. Amen

Prayers that God will show you which path to walk, and that you will see what He shows you.

God Bless,
Jeff

I join with the others in praying for you.

Since this Forum is not a place where spiritual advice can be given I have deleted edited the content of some of the previous posters. I can only recommend that you find someone who has a good, strong relationship with the Lord to talk with (preferably a priest or religious who has a reputation for giving spiritual direction).

I remind our posters that this is a prayer forum. When someone asks for prayer it is appropriate to offer prayer. It is not appropriate to offer them spiritual direction.

"Westerner Gone East"

I offer my prayers for you. Having made this kind of journey, though with different Churches, I know that it is tough. May God bless you richly in Christ.

The administrator hits on the best course of action. I shall pray today that you find a spiritual director.

Thanks for your prayers. I've talked over my feelings with an Orthodox priest I'm very close to, as well as a counselor. I have an Orthodox spiritual father, but I don't know if I want to continue with him. I frankly have issues with him. The Episcopal priest said I could join their parish without leaving the Orthodox Church. If I attend a certain number of times, I'm considered a "member in good standing." And she said that can mean whatever I want it to. So my intention is retain my membership in the Orthodox parish, while accepting the offer of membership at the Anglican church. I will of course be much more active in the latter. That is my plan and I can live with it.

Dear friend, you must make the decision that you think is best. I am not giving you advice, but I am giving you information. It is my understanding that to formally join an Anglican parish amounts to de facto leaving the Orthodox Church, at least in the eyes of the hierarchy of the Church. Just something to consider.

Joe
