My Dear Forum Brethern,

Although I'm a Third Order Penitent, I have difficulties when addressing my family needs(another bad year), my wife Debbie's condition is progressing very quickly and she is losing her mobility skills, there are more tests scheduled to determine the root cause, and although Parkinson's was 1st diagnosed there are questions unanswered and we know how quickly these HMO's operate.

Again I ask for your help, and all efforts are welcomed and appreciated,

james

O holy Father, Physician of souls and bodies, You sent Your only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to heal every infirmity and to deliver us from death. Heal Your handmaid Debbie of every spiritual and bodily ill which afflicts her. Restore her by the grace of Your Christ through the prayers of our most holy Lady, the Mother of God and ever-Virgin Mary, and of all Your Saints. For You, our God, are the Fountain of healing, and we glorify You together with Your only-begotten Son +, and Your Consubstantial Spirit, now and ever and forever. Amen.

Dearest brother in Christ, Jakub,

Please do not hesitate to ask for prayer for family needs. They are often the ones that break our hearts the most and which make us feel the most vulnerable....

I pray to Almighty God through the intercessions of St. Nektarios and the Blessed Virgin Mary for the restoration of Debbie's health, and for all matters associated with it (doctors, diagnoses, insurances, etc.) to proceed smoothly.

May our Lord also grant you the strength you need in this ordeal.

Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy!

In Christ,
Alice

Jakub,

This is a shortened version, but it is most consoling and powerful. It doesn't take more than a few minutes to pray:

The Paraclisis (or Paraklesis) is a special office, or service, dedicated to the
Theotokos--the Mother of God. It is penitential in nature and--although it
may and should be prayed at anytime--it is commonly recited, or chanted,
during times of great trial. Invoking the compassion of the Theotokos, as
the Mother of Sorrows, it is designed to bring consolation to those who
suffer for whatever reason. It is commonly celebrated during the Dormition Fast in the Byzantine Church (from August 1-14).

Note: This version reflects Slavic usage. English translations of Greek usage can be found at Service of Great Paraklesis and Small Paraklesis. Click here to listen to
a recording of the Small Paraklesis in English from the Greek Archdiocese sung
by Eikona.

Blessed is our God, always, now and ever, and forever. Amen.

--Come, let us adore the King, our God.
--Come, let us adore Christ, the King, our God.
--Come, let us adore and bow down to the only Lord Jesus Christ, the King
and our God....

Thank you Alice, I've accumulated quite a collection lately...today we visited another neurologist and found nothing new and scheduled a appointment for a spinal tap which is about the only test that has not been performed.

This condition is really getting her down, she was a very active person (8 grandchildren) and its a bummer to lose some of your independence.

I thank all for the prayers and thoughts...

Almighty God, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, come to their help and deliver them from this difficulty that besets them. Heal Debbie completely Lord. I believe Lord, that all trials of life are under Your care and that all things work for the good of those who love You. Take away from them fear, anxiety and distress. Help Debbie and James to face and endure this difficulty with faith, courage and wisdom. Grant that this trial may bring them closer to You for You are their rock and refuge, comfort and hope, delight and joy. They trust in Your love and compassion for them. Lord as we all pray for them, we remind you of your word to the man let down through the roof, that he was healed by the faith of a few close friends. Lord we are those people for them also, and to you Jesus we give your Word, for you say it shall not return to you void. Let it be Jesus, let it be. Blessed is Your name, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.
