Chief Justice Roger Taney ruled AGAINST Lincoln in his suspension of habeas corpus - meaning, what Lincoln did was an impeachable offense, violating the Constitution.
Why would that violation now be a precedent?

My contention is, that the administration is trying to usurp more power for itself than is what is constitutionally mandated. We can't allow this and keep our democracy. Dear Lance, Yesterday I heard two experts say that similar powers were grabbed by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, and by Pres. Roosevelt during WW II. You will have to forgive me my age and failing short term memory, but I can't remember their names. They were on FOX News. All in all, I think our safety and preserving human lives are more important, as it undoubtably was during our other wars. God Bless, Zenovia Dear Zenovia, Suspending the constitution is never okay, and as Michael_Thoma pointed out, the Supreme Court ruled against Lincoln. it has not been demonstrated that we are safer in general for the Administration's abuse of the Constitution. Best regards, Lance

Dear Lance,
Yesterday I came across something quite interesting in a women's magazine. It was titled something like, 'there is no fury like a women's, or something of that sort. It had to do with Gonzales and the law prohibiting late term abortions having been taken to the Supreme Court.
I believe the liberal female Supreme Court judge Greensburg, said that it was a slight against our constitution, because it limited the rights of a woman to do what she wanted with her body. The articles were scathing, and unbelievable. It emphasized how important the next election will be in order to repeal this law.
I thought I would let you know.
God Bless,
Zenovia

Zenovia Zenovia, I want to see Roe V. Wade overturned, I do not see a constitutional right to an abortion in the constitution. I am against abortion. However, I wonder if the supreme court will do so? People forget, some of these conservative judges are strict constructionists; they are reluctant to overturn precedent. I am not convinced that conservative supreme court judges will overturn Roe v. Wade. Time will tell. Best regards, Lance
