Amadeus--I probably did not word that post correctly. There probably was a Roman Catholic mass tha day. What I said is similar to saying that there isn't a Fourth of July in England. Of course there is, it's just not a holiday. But there still is a fourth of July. The information I used about having permission to miss Divine Liturgy was given to me by my Byz Cath priest. So I feel pretty sure it is correct. I don't know the schedule of the two Roman Catholic churches in our area, but if my priest tells me not to worry about attending one of them, I feel pretty confident about being at peace!

As I've said elsewhere though, I have the Liturgy in various forms on my iPod, so I listened to one that day anyway. I just had to do it at home.

Slava Isusu Christu!

Slava na Viki!

Tim

The advice of my spiritual father is that there is not the sense of obligation in the Eastern Catholic church that there is in the western, so it is not a sin strictly speaking, at least not in the Western sense.

Having said that, Catholic Canon Law actually states that if you cannot get to a Mass/Catholic Liturgy, an Orthodox one will suffice for meeting obligation, for they are "close to a true church" or words to that effect!

The citation for that is in the introdcution to the ROman Missal published by the Diocese of CHicago, but I don't have it with me as we speak..
