Psalm 133/4 ("Praise ye the Lord...ye who by night stand in the House of the Lord") and Psalms 148-150 are other favorites. ------- Western Orthodoxy Blog [ westernorthodox.blogspot.com]

It is a solid tie! Both have had a profound impact on my spiritual life. http://www.bible.org/page.php?page_id=1571http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/3303001.htmhttp://www.enduringword.com/commentaries/19001.htmPsalm 1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the Torah of the Lord, And in His Torah he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish. and... Psalm 8http://www.atthewell.com/psalm8/ O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
What is man that you are mindful of him; the son of man that you care for him?
You made him a little lower than the angels and crowned him with glory and honor.
You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! In ICXC, Gordo

I think there should be a Psalm Personality Inventory! It is interesting to read the different Psalms that people name as their favorite!

I think the idea of a personality connection to the favorite psalm is interesting. At 74 I am still a novice at prayer but I find that my favorite psalm has changed from time to time during my faith journey. It seems that the yearning of my soul has more to do with where I am at a particular time. I still seem to go back to psalm 23 and to the psalm our dear monk quoted.

MaryK,
Welcome to the Byzantine Forum! I tend to go back to Psalm 23 myself although the favorites have changed for me over the years as well.
In Christ,
Porter
