Where can I find the Akathist to St. Nektarios in English?

I received two bottles of Holy Oil from Father Germanos of St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Monastery in Roscoe, NY, a pair of icons, and a pair of cards with a road map to the monastery today.

I'd also like to know if I should obtain a brush to apply it or how one applies it otherwise.

I have a friend with a malignant brain tumor that has returned and my mother-in-law is still struggling after her stroke.

Interesting you should mention St. Nektarios.

My family and I just set up his icon at our icon corner. We had received the holy water and oil from the shrine and had used it to pray for my grandfather prior to his leg amputation, which went very well.

St. Nektarios the Wonderworker, pray for us!

Traditionally, one can either put some oil on a q-tip or even on your fingertips, and annoint the area that needs healing in the sign of the cross w/prayer. Any prayer from the heart, invoking the intercessions of St. Nektarios is appropriate. If you like you could use this hymn:

The offspring of Selyvria and the guardian of Aegina,
the true friend of virtue who appeared in the last days,
we faithful honour thee, as a Godly servant of Christ,
for thou pourest forth healings of all kinds for those who piously cry out:

Glory to God who glorified thee,
Glory to Him who made thee wondrous,
Glory to God who worketh healings for all through thee!
Amen!

I just made a pilgrimage to venerate his relics on the island of Aegina...I stayed for the vespers and supplication service. We spent a little time with the Mother Superior, a former banker (!), (Gerontissa) in her office, which was thankfully, airconditioned, as it was a VERY, very hot, sunny, and unusually humid day...she told us of very important people who have come to humbly visit and venerate w/Orthodox friends at his monastery recently: The royal couple of Belgium and the Muslim wife of Pres. Mubarrak of Egypt, etc. She commented on how humble and down to earth the Queen of Belgium's (Prince?) husband was and how prayerful Mrs. Mubarrak was, which made an immense impression on her.

May God hear all our prayers through the intercessions of the wonder worker and beloved of the whole world Saint, Nektarios, who underwent so many of the trials and tribulations of the worldly life before retreating to start up the monastery in his latter years-- of ill health, unemployment, slander, jealousy, malice and unkindness of others, that many of us can relate to at one or another points in our lives.

I remembered the forum in my most unworthy prayers.

St. Nektarios, pray unto God for our salvation and our intentions!

Christ is in our midst!!

Let's remember that it is not the saint who works the miracles attributed to him/her. Miracles are special favors that God gives as He wills. It is good to remember that whenever we ask for anything, we ought to either precede or end our prayer with "Lord, if it be Your Holy Will."

God is not a miracle machine. He does not automatically grant every request. But we do know that He always has a plan that is for our good, even when we cannot see it. These are His judgments and decisions. It is our calling to accept in faith that he knows best and that He has our best interest at heart--and the best interest of all His people.

That is always hard to accept and to live with, but it is what we are called to do and to be.

No, the saint(s) is/are not angry with us. When we ask for their intercession, be assured that they are asking on our behalf. But that is what they are doing--asking; like us, not necessarily receiving.
