May his memory be eternal.

Here is a link to "A Special Memorial" to Archbishop Raya at the site of Madonna House.

The memorial is a beautiful tribute to this wonderful archbishop.

Peace,

Charles

Thank you Fr. Michael for the schedule, hopefully I will remember to pray along with them.

Thanks for the link Charles.

I was not yet born when my blood started praying. Our Melkite mothers believe that the water of their womb bubbles with the flame of the Holy Spirit. The day my mother knew she was entrusted with a new life, she started singing and praying every day the office of my Byzantine Church. She sang those melodies all during the nine months of that happy expectation... the time of the Resurrection that year must have been more glorious than glory, because my whole being, my flesh and my sinews, for the past seventy years of my life (and I hope this will continue until my last breath), have thrilled with a special tingling whenever I hear or sing, Christ is risen!

And that is so Archbishop Raya.

Kyr Joseph, beloved Archbishop, from the tribulation of these last years, you have now emerged into the splendor you proclaimed and sang all your life! You have truly hung your baptismal garment in the closet of eternity, as you wrote in Celebration, and recovered your humanity in all its beauty and glory, in the company of a host of companions, and risen again out of the grave transformed with a special glory...

Christ is Risen!

AMEN!

Charles,

Thank you for the link. I had checked the Madonna House site earlier, but it wasn't there at that time.

Archbishop Joseph was a special favorite of the parishioners at the Melkite Cathedral, as many of the parish's founding families were from Zahle, where he was born. Anyone who ever met him cannot help but recollect him as a holy, brilliant, and extraordinarily witty man. He has left a wonderful legacy to the Churches of the East in his writings.

May his memory be eternal and thrice-blessed.

Neil

Would like to share a memory that I have of Archbishop Raya. Once I had the opportunity to journey to Combemere to Madonna House, for a retreat.
After dinner, they would have recreation hour. Archbishop Raya was there, willing to take on all chalengers in the game of Backgammon, He was very good not too many people beat him.
He will be missed

Ok, So I was a little late, and didn't realize this happened a while back.
But like the priest said at my great-aunt's funeral... Keep praying, we don't know how time moves after death, pray tomorrow as you would today.. Prayers are needed for those who fell asleep, no matter if it was two months ago, a year ago, or three hours ago.
