it is not a "condition", it is but one aspect of what makes up a person and who they happen to love.

As you indicated, it can be an aspect of a person - as I suspect sexuality is to most people. Unfortunately, I often see far too many gays to whom it has become an obsession that has taken over their lives.

I would like to thank Father Stephanos, as a member of the Catholic Church's clergy, for speaking out definitively on behalf of the Church which he serves faithfully, and for the pastoral concern such a posting shows.

May God grant you many years of good health and happiness, beloved in Christ, Father!

You must not realize what the 'D' stands for in Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York.

Ryan then you missed the point, it was not even in reference to homosexuals as all! Think it over and maybe what I said will be illumined in your mind.

I realized that you weren't calling homosexuals degenerates. I don't think calling anyone a degenerate is charitable.

I find that statement to be offensive.

That's fine, but that was his point as I read it.

I would like to point out that there are members of this Forum who are just as strongly opposed to our current President as others are to Senator Clinton, Senator Obama, and the other Democratic candidates. Those same members who oppose President Bush may also seriously question his morality (I certainly do). However, I don't read any posts where President Bush or current Republican candidates for President are being called degenerates. However, I can say that I have been chastised in the past by a moderator for criticisms of President Bush that were far less harsh than calling him a degenerate. I hope we don't have a double standard here.

Okay, let's cool it. There are many REAL issues of our everyday welfare which need to be addressed by our candidates, and it is a shame that issues such as homosexual issues currently dominate every single race for office, and that they have polarized people so much.

As far as the adjective 'degenerate', this is what it means,

adj: having fallen below a normal or desirable level, esp. in physical or moral qualities; deteriorated; degraded: a degenerate king...

though I think that we would all agree that it is most often used in our vernacular for 'below normal' levels of sexual morality...

With this I will close the thread....No one even liked my cute story about the Greek gay parents that weren't gay at all...Oh well-- I tried to lighten this thread up a little, but it has now officially 'degenerated' , as threads of such controversial topics usually do after a few pages.

I do think that some good points were made and that initially, there was some good understanding and communication.
