This is an announcement especially for all you lurkers out there who live in Singapore. Following the beautiful and well-received Divine Liturgies celebrated by Fr Serge Keleher a couple of weeks ago here in Singapore, we are privileged to have him lead us in the singing of the Akathist hymn to the Mother of God at 7 pm, on Wednesday, 3 Oct 2007, at the Chapel of St Joseph's Institution (located at 38 Malcolm Rd). Serving at the kliros will be our dear friend Edward Yong. Please join us if you are able!

And for everyone else who will not be able to join us for obvious reasons, we ask for your prayers for this event.

Many Years!

So THAT'S where Father Serge has been!

We've missed him on the forum, but our loss is definitely your gain...

Thank you for sharing that with us.

In Christ,
Alice

My pleasure, Alice. smile

Well technically, Fr Serge hasn't been here all this while since you missed him. That Tuesday following the Divine Liturgy on Sunday which he celebrated for us, he went to Melbourne for the Orientale Lumen Conference. Then just yesterday evening he arrived in Singapore again and will only leave for Dublin on Friday. While he is here, we thought it would be a good idea to arrange for an Akathist service. And thankfully, we were granted the use of a school chapel, which certainly helps save money. Renting the church we used for the vigils and Divine Liturgies wasn't cheap, as Edward would tell you!

I am also grateful that we are able to publicize this event on the forum. On the last occasion, apart from the post that Edward put up, publicity was limited largely to email contacts and word of mouth, for reasons I would rather not disclose. Much to our surprise, there was at least one person who attended the services (faithfully I might add) who had not been part of our email list. From what he said, I figured he probably read about the event from the forum and so he came. So the announcement here is for that same purpose, for the benefit of those in Singapore with a keen interest in the Christian East but are not within our circle of contacts.

Many Years,

Ernest

Many blessings and prayers that your message will reach brothers and sisters in Singapore!
