I know I will be run out of town for this one.
Even though "A Christmas Story" is one of my favorite movies, I can not stand to watch "It's a Wonderful Life." I think in part it's my aversion to Jimmy Stewart. I have never watched it the whole way through.

Have you seen Hitchcock's "Rear Window" or "The Man who Shot Liberty Valance"?
If you don't want a sappy Jimmy Stewart, those are good to see.

What are some of the most overrated movies you've seen that you really disliked for one reason or another (i'm thinking of movies highly recommended by others or that won academy awards)? I'll start...
Titanic (Most over rated movie of all time- Lance) Forest Gump The Color Purple There's Something About Mary (one of the worst) Gone With the Wind Joe, I include all of these, and add: Gladiator (it is still good, but NOT picture of the year). The 2nd and 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean Movies, even though I really like Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley as actors. They are both long, boring and pointless. The recent Superman movie- terrible I have a general complaint about the movies- they make too many of them too long. I do not know why Hollywood thinks we want to sit in a theatre for 3 hours.

Citizen Kane is one of the only movies I couldn't make it through. Why watch it, everybody already knows "who" Rosebud is.

This being the summer of Part 3, I have to say that I was disappointed with Shrek 3 and Pirates 3. Too many characters in each. In the beginning of each of the series you had 3 or 4 main characters. By the last movie (maybe ) there were dozens you had to follow.

Amber sez... Pulp Fiction Punch Drunk Love (Adam Sandler in a "serious" role) Any horror movie My 2 cents... Anything by Quentin Tarantino and/or Robert Rodriguez. And, any movie made from a "graphic novel."

I went to see Pulp Fiction at a theatre and walked out after probably 10 minutes. I don't enjoy watching people being slaughtered - especially by automatic weapons!

The film version of "MASH" (with Elliott Gould and Donald Sutherland) was recently rated the "Funniest Movie Ever." I hated the series but was told I'd enjoy the film. Hated it. Every second. Incidentally, Terry, "MASH" was the first major studio film to include the f-word. That was about 35 years ago...we've devolved quickly.
