I would like to ask everyone here to pray for those of us in Southern California who are dealing with the fires that have assaulted our region. The air quality in the city of Irvine (Orange County) has been declared so bad that the local news stations are advising residents to stay inside. The power at the university I attend has gone off and on. I am only aware for what is happening in my locale, but I've heard that Malibu, Arrowhead, and San Diego are having an awful time as well. I beg your prayers for those in immediate danger of the fire: the firefighters, residents, law-enforcement and any others who are in danger from it. I also beg prayers of you all for those who have lost their homes and for the one individual who has lost their life.
Lord have mercy!

The fire is moving close to the Nobertine Abbey of St. Michael in Silverado Canyon. My Dad drove up there today and said that the fires have reached foothills less than a mile away from the abbey. Please pray for the Norbertine fathers, seminarians, the Dominican Rosarian Sisters, and the students, and residents in the locale. Also pray for those in Modjeska Canyon where at least two homes have been destroyed.

I heard there was concern for the saftey of the animals in the San Diego Zoo. Is the fire this close to the downtown? Prayers for all who are involved in any way, firefighters, law enforcement, healthcare workers and all those displaced by this tragedy!
