This new book (published on October 4, 2007) tells the story of the Jesuit priest and scientist, Fr. Teilhard de Chardin, and his role in the discovery of the Peking Man skull in China.

I have just about finished it and it is an interesting read. I would be interested to know if anyone else has read the book and, if so, to discern their thoughts. I would also be interested in a more general discussion of where Fr Chardin stands vis-a-vis the Church today.

You have the title wrong. It is called The Jesuit and the Skull: Teilhard de Chardin, Evolution, and the Search for Peking Man

Actually I forgot to give the bibliographic information -- so thanks!

It looks interesting. I plan to read it over the Christmas holidays. De Chardin is a lighting rod for controversy. I don't know enough about him to form an opinion yet, but I look forward to reading the book. Thanks for letting us know about it.

The book is well-written and seems to be well sourced -- so it is a good read. Let me know what you think ...
