I know it's kind of silly to request prayer for one's computer problems but I need the computer to keep up with my online store, especially this time of year. Tuesday was just a bad day all around. Everything bad that could happen did happen. When it rains it pours. But the worst thing that happened was that my computer got all kinds of viruses. Norton took 9 hrs to scan and detected over 200 affected files. Most of them system files. I succeeded in eradicating the viruses only to have them reappear 3 more times over the next two days (til this am). I have gotten less than 12 hrs sleep in the past 3 days trying to work on this problem and I can't find a resolution. Nothing on the machine is working properly. So in a last ditch effort, I have backed up my important files and am formating the hard drive and will install a new copy of windows. Please pray that this last effort will work. If it doesnt I'll have to buy a new PC.
I'm writing this on my laptop which is fine for surfing but it's no good at all for graphics work which I need for my store. I have to use the pc for that.
I dont know if there is a patron saint for computer problems but if there is I invoke his intercessions.
Jason

Lord, Jason needs his personal computer for his business, and so we ask you to please help him in his efforts to save it. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jason: I don't know if this will help, but it definitely cannot hurt, place some kind of holy icon or cross on your computer for protection..especially since it involves your daily bread.
In Christ, Alice

Jason, Been there many times. My help came from Steve Jobs when I finally switched to his computer line in order for me not to lose my soul with a PC. It was also the right move in order to do the graphic work I do. Anyway, prayers that you will get things together with it, and you don't lose your sanity in the meantime. In IC XC, Father Anthony+
Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

Thank you for your prayers. I wiped the hard drive clean and installed XP but the installation was full of errors. So, because I had been a member of Microsoft Partners Program back in the day I had a fresh copy of Windows Server 2003 and installed that. It went in without a hitch and i've just finished installing all my other software without any errors. Thanks be to God! I don't know what use the server aspect will be since both our other computers are XP home (which doesnt network to Server 2003). But at least the big machine is up and running and I can do what I need to.
Many thanks for your prayers!
Jason

Prayers Jason - may all your woes be over and a nice cooperative computer soon back at work.
I would remove Norton from your machine - there is plenty of evidence that Norton [ all of his stuff ] slows down your machine and is a system hog.
Once you are up and running try one of the free AVs such as Avast and a free firewall .
[OK - I'm like Fr Anthony a MacUser but my husband uses a PC and he refuses to use Norton after problems ]

I don't like Norton either, but am stuck with it. I have DSL through Earthlink and Norton comes with the package. I was much happier with McAfee. When this contract expires I may change.

I see this trouble now..May God give you strength and patience, brother Jason. May God protect your work, files, graphics and bless your e-business. Amin!
Brother...why Norton? It consumes a lot of resources as CPU or RAM. In 2004 I gave up Norton, with license!, because it did not find at time more viruses and trojans. I usually use Nod32 or Kaspersky or Bitdefender. Kaspersky has a plus over all. Nd32 is very silent and does its job well. Bitdefender is quite good. I am needed to be back to e-business and I choose Kaspersky. Very protective. And be sure that you save regularly your work on DVD or to a backup ftp zone.

I offer my prayers for a successful change for Jason through the intercession of St. Isidore of Seville. Patron of the Internet.
