Dear Friends:
Metropolitan Basil will be at my parish Friday and Saturday (16th and 17th of November). We will be having Vespers on Friday evening, when one of my friends will be ordained as subdeacon. There will be Matins and Divine Liturgy Saturday morning. On Saturday, Archbishop and Cardinal-Designate Daniel Dinardo of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston will also be present together with Metropolitan Basil for Matins and Divine Liturgy. Please pray for my friend as he is preparing for his ordination, and for our entire parish as we prepare for the visit from the Metropolitan (a number of people are feeling a bit stressed as they prepare for the upcoming weekend).
Thank you,
Ryan

Is the ordination preparatory to additional orders for the candidate?

Metropolitan Basil is due every respect possible. But shuush, don't tell anyone, he is like a really good 'grandpa'. Seriously, he is very loving and kind. No need to be concerned. Be at peace in the name of the Lord Jesus. Amen

My prayers for your parish, for the bishop, and your friend who is a candidate for holy orders. God bless you all.

Glory to Jesus Christ! Is Deacon Candidate Andrew the one from Texas? Would you also identify other candidates preparing for ordination? I would like to have them in my prayers. Thank you, Deacon El

Dear Friends:
Thank you for your prayers. My friend is now Subdeacon. Vespers on Friday evening and Matins and Divine Liturgy on Saturday morning were all beautiful. For Divine Liturgy, we had two bishops (Metropolitan Basil and Archbishop and Cardinal-Designate Daniel DiNardo of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston), four priests, two deacons, one subdeacon, and five altar servers. I was one of the servers and can attest that it was a bit crowded behind the iconostasis. However, it was a wonderful experience for me and I believe for the entire parish as well. Again, thank you for your prayer for my parish and for my friend Andy. Please continue to pray for him as he prepares to be ordained as a Deacon (I believe that's supposed to happen in April).
Ryan
