Dear Friends:

Tonight I received a call from the dermatologist I saw last week. She had done biopsies on two moles. One of the biopsies indicated a "superficial melanoma." She seems to think that the cancer is limited to that one mole and that the prognosis is very good. I feel optimistic, but I can't help but feel scared at the same time. Please pray for healing.

Ryan

Dear Ryan,

Prayers and more prayers....that all will be well.

Great timing, right before Thanksgiving...anyway, try not to let it destroy your holiday.

Through the intercessions of the miraculous heavenly healer, St. Nektarios, and all the saints you hold dear,

In Christ,
Alice

Dear Ryan,

Prayers for your health and recovery.

Dear Friends:

Thank you for your words of encouragements and your prayers. At this point, I feel very optimistic. According to my understanding of what the doctor told me and some of the literature I've read, in melanomas where the thickness is less than 1 mm, there is an excellent chance for full recovery, since there is little likelihood of the cancer having spread into the lymph glands. In my case, the thickness is 0.6 mm. The next step is for me to have a procedure done in which additional, surrounding tissue is removed and tested for the presence of cancer, as a precautionary step.

Also, this morning, after Divine Liturgy, I told Fr. Elias. He had already planned to have a service of anointing for a lady in the parish who's having surgery next week, so he anointed me as well.

Again, thank you for your prayers.

I have had skin cancer surgery three times, but fortunately they were not for melanomas. I am not allowed to be outside from April until November except to go to and from my car. I hope you get some good sunscreen. I will definitely keep you are in my prayers. Keep us posted on your condition.

Ryan,

I had no idea you are dealing with skin cancer. I did not catch your first post.

I am praying for you, buddy!

I am glad that the prognosis looks good.

May Christ our God bring you complete healing, body & soul, through the prayers of the Theotokos & all the saints.

Blessings,

Lance

I'll be sure to pray for you at Mass this morning. Let the anxiety draw you closer to Our Lord on the Cross.

God bless,
Michael
