The UGCC web site has several old press releases that talk about the new catechism being released by the Ukranian Catholic Bishops. I thought that this was to be released this year or 2008.
Does anyone have any information as to when it will be available, and will it be released in English?

Thanks

When the acta are distributed within a few weeks we should know, as I am sure Bishop +Peter gave an update. The draft was still under review and revision last I heard. And yes, like the Catechetical Directory already printed in 2000, it will be printed in English as well.

How specific is it to the UGCC? Would it ever receive "official" use by the Ruthenians or Melkites?

Dear Byzantine TX,

In the UGCC, everything that is announced by the Synod may or may not be accepted throughout this Particular Church.

One could surmise that if the Catechism is weak on affirming papal jurisdiction and authority, our religious Orders will probably jettison it.

So this all depends on whether it is viewed as strongly Papal or not Papal/Orthodox Lite.

We shall see.

Hello:

Byzantine Rite Church Supplies in Philadelphia may possibly have a copy available when it is eventually released. I am told that is one of the best religious article stores in Philadelphia.

Please note, however, that I am not an authority!
