A Happy St Andrew's Day to our Angela of Glasgow and all great Scots on the Forum!

In former times, I believe it was called "Andermas."

This is the first year when the Monday nearest St Andrew's Day is an official (bank) holiday in Scotland.

Cheers,

Alex(ander)

As a partial Scot and an Andrew, whose patron is St. Andrew the First Called, a happy feast day to anyone honoring it today!

My calendar says today is the feast day of St. Nikon of Radonezh.

Dear AMM,

Yes, it was a Scot who named a camera "Nikon" wasn't it? smile

My aunt was Scottish as well.

This is the one day you can substitute Haggis for Kollyva or Kutia.

Happy St Andrew day.

One of two Orthodox churches I go to has a Greek Fr. Andrew. I imagine he knows it is St Andrew day and is having a good day.
