Here is a new version of the religion survey. Its like the one I posted about a year ago here. The goal is to get a snapshot of the background and beliefs and practices of the people who participate at this forum.
Please be honest. The survey is anonymous. You can respond with what is honestly in your heart.
Yes, it is a long survey. Dont take it unless you have a good 20 minutes or so. Then, pull up a chair and a cup of your favorite hot beverage and go for it !
Yes, it is not perfect. I tried to make improvements from last year. My apologies to anyone who is offended by the questions or responses; that is not my intent.
Finally: Enjoy ! Let your views be expressed and counted !

Dear John, Thanks for taking the time to compose this poll. Is there anyway that one can answer all questions first, and then just click on one button to submit and/or view? I had to do it twice because I thought I could do that, and I lost everything... Alice

Hi Alice !
Thank you for the kind words . . . and for taking the whole thing twice ! I'm still learning this survey program myself, but I think you have to answer each question at a time. After that, you can the results for all that question.

Yes, it looks like it was alot of hard work. Thanks again John! My only suggestion would be: (don't you hate unsolicited suggestions ) On a few questions I knew that the answer was going to be either the Orthodox answer or the Roman Catholic answer depending on what you were...such as about the role of the Pope vs. councils, etc. In those particular topics where the RC position would be obvious as would the Orthodox, I would like to have seen more 'gray'. In all fairness, you did give some 'gray' options regarding the Filioque, divorce and contraception. Regards, Alice

I too want to thank you for your efforts!
I have only one suggestion - the option for Christian - non-Chalcedonian is confusing.
Oriental Orthodox view themselves as Orthodox - perhaps a clarification would help. Also non-Chalcedonian refers to the Church of the East as well as the OO, among other groups.

Wow I need a glass of wine after that one!
Some of the authority questions needed a middle ground.I laughed on the pew question!

You can respond with what is honestly in your heart. This was a very interesting exercise. I think that when I answered last year, I answered with my head. I know that I gave different answers this year, from my heart. I must think over and pray over those differences....

Thank you, everybody, for the kind words. And thank you for taking the survey.
Yes, this is an imperfect work. For example, the more I look at some of the questions, the more I can see where there needed to be more middle answers (between one view and another). Also, I messed up posting one question: it should have been "pick as many answers as you want" instead of just one. Also, I've received some good suggestions about more options for education and marital status. Please feel free to send me your comments or criticisms, here or by private message (PM).
I'm glad some of you caught the humor that I tried to include in an otherwise serious poll. Pews . . . bon vivant . . . etc.
I am very impressed to see that most respondents have rock-solid convictions on the basics of the Christian faith.
(But did anyone else notice that only a bare minimum of respondents report practicing some form of fasting? At the time I'm writing this, it is 14 out of maybe 27 . . . )
I am also pleased that this survey is proving to be stimulating to hearts and minds.
And to those who havent taken the survey yet, please do so and let your views be counted: anonymously and honestly.
-- John

Now to ask the question I've been dying to ask about John's poll. So far, what has been the biggest surprise pct wise for answers given ? and what has been the biggest disappointment ? I'll have to think about this one myself.

OOPS, in going over it, I realized that I made a BIG mistake. (In defense: don't forget that I took the poll twice because the first one got wiped out--and by the second time, I was wiped out!!) I should have said that God has one incarnation, Jesus Christ. If you want to change the results on that one, please do! (I feel like I am debating my test grade with the Professor)! In Christ, Alice
