Dr. Alex asked us to name our favorite Orthodox saints (since the schism), and that thread is going strong.

And so:

Who is your favorite Catholic saint (since the schism) ?

If I'm allowed to answer:

Sts. Pio, Maximillian Kolbe, John of the Cross, Ignatius of Loyola, Francis Xavier, Teresa of Avila.

And the holy martyrs of China, Korea, Japan, and Vietnam.

Blessed Junipero Serra who I believe converted me from Calvinism. Also I love St Phillip Neri and all the English and Scottish martyrs.

I like the stories and witness of many pre-schism and post-schism saints, and my list would be long in both, but I have chosen, in both threads, those saints which I personally feel the closest to for one reason or another... and in some cases, some of them, have interceded on my behalf and answered prayers.

Humbly,
In Christ,
Alice

For me it would have to be St. Thomas More, without any close seconds.

For me, I would have to say Sainte Therese de l'Enfant Jesus. Having visited Lisieux, her monastery, her home Les Buissonets, the basilique. I have admired her since childhood. I admire her sisters as well, Mother Agnes de Jesus (Pauline) Sister Genevieve of the Holy Face (Celine) Sr. Francoise-Therese (Leonie) and Sr. Marie du Sacre Coeur (Marie). Her sister Leonie become a Visitation Nun in the Monastery of Caen. I have a First Class Relic of Saint Therese. If any of you are interested in learning more about Ste. Therese de l'Enfant Jesus please let me know! I am your disposal!

The Holy Jesuit Martyrs of North America: Sts. John de Brebeuf, Isaac Jogues, Gabriel Lalemant, Anthony Daniel, Charles Garnier, Noel Chabanel, Rene Goupil and John de la Lande, not forgetting Bl. Kateri Tekakwitha.

My parents could not have children, my mother prayed hard at their Shrine in Midland, Ont. and I was finally conceived and then was born on the feast of St John de Brebeuf (but on the Julian Calendar - St John respected more than just the Native culture you know . . .).
