The saints I invoke the most are the Fourteen Holy Helpers (but they're all pre-schism) so...

like Alexis I'm going to say St. Teresa of the Child Jesus (a.k.a. of vila). I quote her more than any other saint.

I also have a devotion to the two beati Bl. Karl von Habsburg (a.k.a. Charles of Austria) and Bl. Junpero Serra.

Another beautiful example of sanctity is Blessed Josaphata Hordashevska - the co-foundress of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate in Ukraine. Blessed Josphata did a lot for the Ukrainian nation and people in the province of Galicia.

Ah, yes. I accidentally threw in the extra word. St. Teresa of Jesus is what I meant. What a difference a word makes!

Dear AMM,

Yes, I would have to second that! There is a Litany in honour of St Oliver here:

http://www.irishpage.com/prayers/Plunkett.htm

I have seen his relics at St Peter's Church in Drogheda a number of times, and the portrait at the wikipedia site captures his innate nobility very well indeed.

A Catholic that I keep in memory and think a lot about is
Father Ragheed Ganni and his deacons. They were leaving Mass in Mosul and Islamic extremists pulled them out of their car and demanded their conversion to Islam and Father and the Deacons refused and were killed.

I added a whole section on Father Ragheed to my website. There are many links to articles and videos. I especially love his quote on the Holy Eucharist.

Holy Martyrs of Iraq, intercede for us!

God bless,

I second this list, and add to it Theodore Romzha, Vasyl Hopko, Pavel Godjich, Alexandr Chira.

I do like Saint John of the Cross, and I've heard the names of others but,I admit I know little about Catholic saints either. Can anyone recommend books?
