St. Frances de Sales--love the approach to sainthood for ordinary folk.
St. Teresa of Avila--feisty female who in spite of passionate temperament still made the cut.
St. Alphonsus de Liguori--meditations remind me of lovesongs written to Christ. This is the saint who actually taught me to love God.

Saint Faustina Kowalska of Poland. If it were not for this humble saint of Cracow-Lagiewniki we would not know of the great message of the Divine Mercy, not of the Divine Mercy devotion! Saint Faustina was such a humble and loving saint!
If any of you are interested, please E-Mail me and I give you more details about her!
Peace,
John Doucette

Yes, Robster, Edith Stein, otherwise known as the Holy Martyr St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, was an amazing woman!

Probably my favorite Western Catholic saint of the modern era would be Fr. Maximilian Marie Kolbe, OFM Conv. .
Pope St. Gregory the Great is my early Western favorite.

Doesn't anyone think that Saint Faustina Kowalska is a GREAT saint? If it were not for her, we would not know about the great message of Divine Mercy!

The Blessed Martyrs of Gorkum. When the Calvinist pirates seized the city of Gorkum they arrested all the priests in residence except one who had abandoned his calling and was living openly with a mistress. He turned himself in when he heard the others had been detained. When the Calvinists reproached him for his evil life he responded, "Fornicator I ever was. Heretic I never was." He was hung with the other priests and attained the martyrs crown. The story just gives me hope and hope for all sinners.
