I've been doing a good bit of actual research on my family history and tonight I ran across something interesting. Presumably my 14th great grandfather is Blessed Aiden Fortescue. Martyred for Loyalty to the Roman Catholic Church on July 8, 1539. Beheaded on Tower Hill, London at the command of Henry VIII with the Venerable Thomas Dingley.

It get's intriguing. Henry VIII was, at one time, married to Anne Bolyen whom he later divorced and executed. Anne was 2nd cousin to Aiden Fortescue and so is my 2nd cousin 15x removed. This also makes Elizabeth I my 3rd cousin 14x removed.

Talk about disfunctional families!

LOL

Jason

My Aunt also searched our roots and found that we are related to St. Thomas More, who was also martyred for his faith.

I was watching EWTN and Bro. Bob Fischman said that if you start with the fact that your parents were 2 people who got together, and your grandparents were 4 people who got together, and your great grandparents were 8 people who got together, and so on.....

By the 20th generation of ancestors... you have 1,048,576 people who had to get together to make you!

BTW, pretty sure I'm related to Blessed John Roche.

Christos Razdajetsja! (Christ is Born!)
Slavite Jeho! (Glorify Him!)

I have done some extensive family research myself and can trace my father's side of the family back to the late 1700's in an unbroken line from father to son. I'm pretty sure I'm related to a bunch of cabbage eating peasants and probably a few horse thieves. But nothing else. How do you guys rate? Am I not looking in the right places? What rocks do I have to turn over? Come on, give a guy a break at Christmas time!
