Ok, instead of hijakcing the Bishop Ireland thread. Let's talk about Cream of Wheat here.
They recently sold the rights to another maker. They ruined the apples and cinnamom cream of wheat. it tastes like pottporri smells. Also, they used to have chocolate cream of wheat when I was a kid, that rocked. I've eaten Cream of wheat for years, and it isn't just for Kids.
The only thing to do with the plain stuff is mix it in with a flavored packet.
I obviously use the instant stuff.

I've always loved Cream of Wheat. My wife hates it. Been married 28 years. Haven't had cream of wheat in 28 years. Come to think of it, I can say the same about leg of lamb! whistle

I've been married 31 years. My wife doesn't like Cream of Wheat either. But I have it whenever I want. I learned to make it myself when I was in high school because my mother didn't like to fool with it either. I make my own oatmeal and Cream of Wheat. The regular kind of either isn't that hard to make: boil water and pour in the dry product stirring constantly; five minutes, breakfast is served. Toaster makes the toast in the meantime. Cream of Rice isn't bad either.

And since I don't tolerate dairy, I eat all three by thinning them out with a bit more hot water--not bad for fasting periods. wink

I never saw the chocolate flavor, but I am sure I would have liked it. I like Cream of Wheat and remember it fondly from childhood. You know, sometimes threads get much more interesting after they are hijacked. biggrin

Cream of wheat...bleh...I've never been able to stomach it. My oldest sister, on the other hand, absolutely loves it! But not the instant stuff, she's a cream of wheat snob, only eats the 'real' kind. smile

God bless and keep you....

Doubting Thomas

LOL I love you guys. Whenever I've got something I don't particularly like, I remember those who have nothing at all who frequent our soup kitchen and then thank God I've got something to both fill my stomach and to complain about.

What happens if you get to Heaven and they tell you there's good news and ther's bad news? The good news is you're getting in. The bad news is that the Wedding Feast consists of Cream of Wheat. biggrin laugh biggrin laugh

Make CofW half water and half milk - use the real stuff(instant is well I never liked it). Then use a bit of sugar - raw if you have - and butter.

My kids, in their early twenties, had been moping around 'cuz I had not made them CofW for years. So now, they come in and say, 'mom make us some will 'ya'. I guess when you are raised on it, you never out grow it. biggrin
