To all of you who replied to my posting, Thank you. A little history about myself for what it is worth.

I am from a Lutheran/Anglican background that converted to Catholicism years ago. If I had known about the Byzantine Catholic Church I would have gone that route. I guess it was my own fault for not investigating things more carefully. That being said and done I find myself drawn to the East and I am not a very happy camper these days. At one time I thought about changing rites but due to all of the family complications this would cause I decided it would be best to stay where I am at.

Dear Ung,

Yes, there is - founded in the 19th century as a teaching Order and it is called the "Congregation of St Basil" or "CSB."

But unlike our Basilians, they come "pre-Latinized" wink

Why is it when a discussion pertaining to the differences between disciplines of East & West Catholic Churches practices among Catholics, "especially Roman Catholics" gets the "you are from another planet look?".

Puzzling out this sentence might help to answer the question. I finally diagrammed the sentence and was able to determine that the subject is "discussion" and the predicate is "gets" - but the syntax is unbearable. Here's the same sentence, divided into two, and, I suggest, significantly clearer:

A discussion of disciplinary differences between Roman Catholicism and the various Eastern Catholic Churches often seems to produce a visible lack of understanding. Why is that?

Why is it best you stay where you're at, Viking? If you are called East, then let the light of the East shine forth, regardless of logistics and bias/bigotry. Find good priests and a good Eastern Catholic parish to grow in. Which particular Eastern Church attracts you so far?...As Ung said, it's an "Eastern Catholic Pulmonary System", not just "a lung"...

You're a Viking, right? This should get you into "berserker" mode!...Any chance for action and adventure should excite you, no?...

Hello Fr. Serge,

No I do not know who Anna Russell is, who is she?
Thank You for editing my question and figuring out the syntax.

"what religion are you?

ex; I am Catholic what are you?....answer; Orthodox,
I attend the Byzantine church....yeah so what's that? ( as though being Orthodox is a completely different religion? )

I`m with Dandlion. If catechism classes, RCIA covered at least a few basics about Eastern Catholicism all Catholics from the start would be aware of Eastern Catholicism (and vice-versa)and avoid so much confusion. After all, they are only learning about their own Universal Church.

Shouldn't that be--their own "universal" church? A little gentle sarcasm/irony never hurt anyone!
