I never liked the flavored cereals...so for me, it's:

Oatmeal w/brown sugar
COW w/white sugar
Red River w/brown sugar (kind of a "seedy" hot cereal)

and my favorite...

Ralston w/brown sugar (it's like COW with more of the germ/bran on it, so it's tan, not white...and tastes much different). And it even has TOM MIX on the box!!!

Isn't the Ukrainian Svjatyj Vecur dish "Kutiya" kinda like a wholegrain version of CofW?

The sugar beet is a whitish color. I doubt we see it in stores. I only happened to see them because a few neighbors still grew them when I was very small. It was a huge cash crop in eastern Montana at one time. Ive never understood why it changed, but by 1960 just a few were still growing them.
The red beet is the common table beet unless a red suger beet was grown elsewhere.

I forgot, the newest seed catalogues are selling a golden beet.

Yes, but too the sugar beet still makes up a huge amount of the sugar production in the U.S., according to the History Channel show I watched on sugar. Probably was eating sugar while watching it.
Oh, hold on I need a sip of my clear, wait what's this stuff, clear beverage with ice? I'll be back after I go put some sugar in it wink
p.s. did you know that there is even sugar in table salt, so I'm told.

There may be sugar in table salt, but not three shots of vodka. Shame, that.

Good reason to use Sea Salt or Kosher Salt. Much better for you!

I use nothing but sea salt or kosher salt. The other stuff just has too many additives to it and I found that sea salt and kosher salt tastes better. Or, rather, it makes the food taste better.

Yes, but does sea salt contain have other stuff than salt (that was also dissolved in the sea)?

As for sugar beets, they used to grow them around here when I wass a kid. They still do a litle bit, but not nearly like they used to.
