What does it mean if I like Iron City Beer? It means you and I will never be drinking the same beer together, if we should ever meet!

What does it mean if I like Iron City Beer? You need to get out more often and actually sample some REAL beer.

I was hoping for more positive responses. I haven't tried Yuengling yet. (And what's with the crazy alcohol laws?)

What does it mean if I like Iron City Beer? Means you are: A.) A steel worker B.) Poor and its the only thing you can afford C.) Have burned off your taste buds. D.) All of the above. No, in all seriousness, beer snobs as myself love to rip on the popular light American Lager, but the style does have its place. Don't tell any of my beer snob friends, but on a hot day in the summer you have to go with a light lager because its easy to drink (because of lack of taste) and refreshing (cause it tastes like water). I also drink light American Lager when I'm broke and need to cut down on beer expenses. I'll usually go with a case of Miller High Life. If any of you are fellow beer lovers and are in Minnesota or Chicago try Surly Bender. FANTASTIC! My favortie brew. Its an oatmeal stout like you've never had before. PS Isn't it a rule you have to drink that Iron City Beer while watching the Steelers?

Dr. Eric.
I almost exclusively drink Ahrn, as we call it up here in da Burgh.
OK, to be more specific, I drink IC Light.
Neither are great beers, per se, and both give me headaches, but there's something about them... I enjoy me an Ahrn after a hard day of work.
As for other beers, I drink Guinness and expensive beers when someone else is paying, and cheap beer when I am -- I'm a teacher.
However, I'm a part-time Irish rock musician, which means I get LOTS of free good beers (and whiskey) regularly... a blessing and a curse.
Trappist/Belguim beers are my all time favorite and I've got quite a discriminating palate but I'm not a beer snob. I prefer to drink local beers over national beers -- so that means I'll pound Old Style when I'm in the midwest. I hate Budweiser (but I like Busch... why is THAT?)
As for Yuengling, I grew up on, it being from Pottsville, home of Yuengling. Their Lager beer gives me tremendous indigestion, but can taste quite amazing from a fresh keg at home, but never quite lives up to that taste anywhere else. I love their Premium beer, too. It's so basic. And their porter is good. I'd recommend some of Lord Chesterfield's Ale if you can get it.
Hope this helps. Drinking Iron City means you're not pretentious and you care about local jobs. How's that?

What does it mean if I like Iron City Beer? It says quite a bit, but nothing positive. Sorry! Couldn't help myself. And today is a fast day, too!

Dr. Eric:
If you get to Western PA, you've also got to try Straub's beer, made in St. Marys, PA. It's an old-fashioned, unpasturized German beer that my Deustch neighbors claim is just like the stuff from the old country.
As far as Iron City goes, some friends from my college days used to say you'd never drink the stuff if you saw the pipes that take the water out of the river to make it. Wouldn't know; I'm not from Pittsburgh; just much farther north.

After they make IC Light, they use the slops to make a cheap beer called Old German. It's slogan is The World Knows No Finer!
INDEED!

Yuengling is decent for the price. Penn Brewery makes some good German style beers. Iron City is bilge water.
The liquor laws in Pennsylvania are insane.
