IC Light, the beer with half as much rust in it? ... Drinking Iron City means you're not pretentious and you care about local jobs. How's that? There is something to say about supporting your local workers. Especially now that Toyota sells more vehicles in the USA than Ford. I know, most are US made. For the record, I own both a Ford and a Toyota (both US made) and a Buick (Canadian). The Buick is the best car of the three.

My DIL loves it. We don't dare make a trip back home without bringing a case back to her. Too funny! And she's a southern girl

I was hoping for more positive responses. I haven't tried Yuengling yet. (And what's with the crazy alcohol laws?) Dr. E: I'm a beer snob, but I've got Ahrn Leaded in my fridge, as well as Yuengling Porter, Guinness and Spaten. I've also got Penn Dark ready to go in the fridge. (Yes, I have the PA beers "imported" when my dad visits from Latrobe.) Iron City is pretty close to Bud. I prefer the Pgh products, of course. I haven't seen the locals drink much Busch here though . . . As an aside, I did take an Ahrn on the metro with me downtown to the Dome to see the Steelers trounce the Rams in December. I was hoping to take it inside, but the guards were patting everyone down at the door . . . so I drank it outside. It was actually a weird experience, because other than the lack of Ahrn inside the Dome, I'd have thought I was back in the 'Burgh for a home game. There were more fans waving Terrible Towels than not! Dave

Dave,
Sorry, but since I don't know your rank I can't address you properly. (You may keep your anonymity so don't feel like I'm asking for it.)
But, are you at Scott?
My brother-in-law is at EAFB in Alaska.

Native of Southern Illinois. The rank is Capt, soon to be Capt (r). Dave is good enough, and yes, I'm at Scott AFB. I was stationed at Eielson years ago, but I think you said your brother is at Elmendorf? (Both abbreviate to EAFB and both are in Alaska!) Dave

Hey, back in in the late 1980's, IC Light became a popular yuppie beer. It had a really good ad campaign:
"Hey, gimme an IC Light"
I never thought it tasted any different then other light beers (Miller Lite, Coors Light, Bud Light).
Ung
PS You do know that both the Water Authority and ALCOSAN(waste treatment plant) are located on the Allegheny River. Well, just don't drink the city water after heavy rains!

"I've never met a beer I didn't like." I think it was Norm from "Cheers" who said that. Being from Pittsburgh I hate to admit Iron City and IC Light don't top my list and I rarely buy either one. They're OK on draft though. If you're looking for Pittsburgh local, although a little more expensive, Penn Brewery makes some good, honest, drinkable German style beers and is a really neat place to visit... http://www.pennbrew.com/

ALCOSAN is on the Ohio River on the other side of the McKees Rocks Bridge. I smell it every day on my way to work... You may get one of those Allegheny whitefish in your 'Arn though... (Ung, you brought them up in a previous post. I don't think people really know what they are, and we won't tell 'em either...) Yea, Penn Pilsner is much better than Iron City but you'll pay a bit more. Well worth it. Right across the street from the IC Brewery is the Church Brew works converted from an old RC Chruch. They are suppose to have a good microbrew. But if you buy any beer or alcohol here in Allegheny County you will be paying 10%+ more now that the drink tax is in effect. Our great County Executive decided to penalize drinkers by taxing 10% for every drink to bail out the mass transit system. Soon you'll have to pay a tax to enter the county, I can see it. They tax everything else... PS: The local term for Iron City is Iron Sh!##y.

Then someone explained what it really was, and I started to think that the clean up of the Three Rivers has a long way to go! Ung
