Find out which Church Father you identify with the most!

http://www.fathersofthechurch.com/quiz/

I am Origen! (Actually, the more I read, the more I discover I AM much more of an Alexandrian than I originally thought!)

Quote
Youre Origen!

You do nothing by half-measures. If youre going to read the Bible, you want to read it in the original languages. If youre going to teach, youre going to reach as many souls as possible, through a proliferation of lectures and books. If youre a guy and youre going to fight for purity well, youd better hide the kitchen shears.

I'm Justin Martyr. I did this quiz a long time ago and I ended up being Justin. Maybe I should just study Justin and write a thesis called "Justin for the Modern Church". Hmm... should we come up with a series of books like that? :p

Saint Jerome. Show me a Bible to translate! I can go from... British English to American English!

Clearly, there was no language question associated with the assessment. wink

Youre St. Justin Martyr!

You have a positive and hopeful attitude toward the world. You think that nature, history, and even the pagan philosophers were often guided by God in preparation for the Advent of the Christ. You find seeds of the Word in unexpected places. Youre patient and willing to explain the faith to unbelievers.

You are St. Melito of Sardis!

You have a great love of history and liturgy. Youre attached to the traditions of the ancients, yet you recognize that the old world great as it was is passing away. You are loyal to the customs of your family, though you do not hesitate to call family members to account for their sins.

Jean Danielou had a very good treatment of his life and works. It is entitled simply Origen. I believe it was published by Sheed and Ward.

Cheers!

PS: According to Christoph Schornborn's research, the notion of Origen castrating himself to become a "eunuch for the kingdom" is historically false. Quite a relief for those of us who are supposedly his "type"!

I am St. Melito. I quizzed my wife (who said that she really didn't want to do the quiz) and she is Tertullian. wink
